Process: Soldiers & Traitors

“This drawer holds a series of monoprints that all confront the animal within the humans. Scenes of uprising lay between one-of-a-kind prints a colonizer’s mind, using a massive architectural reminiscent of an ancient Basilica as a backdrop.. A primate’s portrait makes repeated appearances at different points throughout this visual narrative to reaffirm its position as a common ancestor for both the colonizers, and the colonized. While a rhythm is created with the repetition of motifs, no two prints are the same. Each print was inked with its own unique coloring, and each print acts as a standalone piece. These prints were done at Texas State University in San Marcos, under the direction of Professor Jeff Dell and the assistance of his students.” Sofia Guerra, Curator of Process
