The Miami in Miami seminar of the FIU Honors College undertook Miami Metro Day. On 11 September 2019, the group started at Dadeland South stop of the Metrorail. There they were taught how to use metro passes and navigate the green and orange lines. The first metro stop was at University to visit the Kress Collection at the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami. The next stop was Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, followed by Historic Overtown. In Overtown, the class ate lunch at Jackson Soul Food. The class then ended at the Northside station to see the mural by Purvis Young.
Professor Bailly and his FIU Honors College students thank Director Jill Deupi of the Lowe Art Museum, Deputy Director Wendy Wolf of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and our friends at Jackson Soul Food for welcoming our class.
