Founded in 1471 by Pope Sixtus IV, the Musei Capitolini is considered the oldest museum in the world. A absolute must for art aficionados and history buffs alike, the Capitoline features some of the most famous works from Classical Rome, as well as a fine collection of Baroque masterpieces (Caravaggio and Velasquez).
